By Jan 2028, the Department of Innovation & Technology would have to issue rules governing how every Illinois state agency develops, buys, and uses AI.

What it does

Creates the State Government AI Act. Requires DOIT to adopt rules by Jan 1, 2028 governing how state agencies develop, procure, deploy, use, and evaluate AI systems. Prohibits agency AI deployment unless permitted under department regulations. Mandates impact assessment reports.
